  4. This distribution of ThunderBYTE Anti-Virus (TBAV) for Windows comprises the 
  5. latest release of TBAV for Windows.

  12. 1) Understanding the automatic update feature
  13. ---------------------------------------------
  14. This release provides you with an automatic update feature. Using this
  15. option of TBAV for Windows, it is possible to automatically update
  16. this version to a more recent version.
  17.  
  18. To configure the automatic update feature, you can either install TBAV
  19. for Windows in the normal way and alter the setting via the 'Options'
  20. menu by clicking the 'Automatic Update feature' item, or you can
  21. edit the accompanying TbLoad.Ini file manually.

  23. The TbLoad.Ini file comprises three keywords:

  25.         [TbLoad]
  26.         UpdateDir=C:\TBAV\UPDATE          ; or C:\TBAVWNT, C:\TBAVW95
  27.         TimeStamp=04-03-1996, 07:01:00
  28.         UseTbLoad=1

  30. The first keyword, 'UpdateDir', specifies the (shared) directory that
  31. will contain the files of newer releases. In a network environment, we
  32. recommend you to dedicate a public server directory for TBAV updates.
  33. The second keyword labeled 'TimeStamp' is used by the automatic update
  34. feature to see wether or not files need to be updated. This timestamp
  35. refers to the last time TBAV for Windows was updated automatically.
  36. The last keyword is used to enable or disable the Automatic update
  37. feature. When this line says 'UseTbLoad=1' automatic updating is enabled.
  38. You can switch the automatic update feature off by changing the line
  39. into 'UseTbLoad=0'.

  41. Please specify the update directory parameter in TbLoad.Ini carefully! We 
  42. receive a lot of support calls from users who tell us that the Automatic 
  43. Update Feature doesn't work; after some time we always find out that the 
  44. users didn't change the 'UpdateDir' entry in TbLoad.Ini to their own 
  45. settings. So, if your system administrator created a dedicated public
  46. network directory for TBAV updates, eg., "J:\PUBLIC\TBAV_UPD", remember to 
  47. change the 'UpdateDir' entry in TbLoad.Ini to 'UpdateDir=J:\PUBLIC\TBAV_UPD'.

  50. 2) Making special installation sets
  51. -----------------------------------
  52. By changing some options in the SETUP.INF you can alter the default 
  53. settings from the Windows SETUP dialogs.
  54. The default settings are put in the [Defaults] section in the SETUP.INF.
  55. Following is a list of settings which defaults can be altered.

  58.   Installation         = 0  ; 0 = First-time, express installation
  59.                             ; 1 = First-time, custom installation
  60.                             ; 2 = Update installation

  62. The following options only hold for First-time, express installation
  63. Per default 0 = No, and 1 = Yes on the given command.
